Tracing back to its roots as a club founded in 1922 by Buffalonians who owned summer homes on the Canadian shore of Lake Erie, the Membership continues to primarily consist of American citizens. This fact notwithstanding, the Club enjoys a seamless camaraderie among both Canadian and American Members, drawing golf enthusiasts from Western New York State, the Niagara Peninsula and the metro Toronto area. Indeed, when the Club hosted the 1972 Canadian Open Championship, media articles marveled at the bi-national spirit of the Club. A highlight of the social season is the Club’s annual fireworks display, which takes place between Canada Day and the Fourth of July, in tribute to the independence and freedom enjoyed by both nations.

Known as a true golf club, Cherry Hill offers enjoyment for virtually everyone who chooses to join the Club. For the die-hard golfer, the golf course is a classic Walter Travis designed 18-hole championship course that provides rigorous challenges from tee to green, yet remains a course that one can play day in and day out without growing tired of the layout.

For family-oriented golfers the Club provides ample opportunities to play with spouses and children, as well as offering a variety of social events geared toward family enjoyment, such as the Friday Fish Fry, bingo nights and a casual dining atmosphere in which all members of the family are always welcome. Many mixed couples golf events, including the popular 9&Dine evenings, with accompanying parties are scheduled throughout the year.

For “retired” golfers the Social Membership classification allows those who consider Cherry Hill a home away from home to continue their affiliation with the Club, while enjoying the dining facilities and numerous social events. Likewise for non-golfers, the Social Membership provides a wonderful, casual private club opportunity.

The Club also runs active and well-subscribed programs for Men’s Golf, Ladies Golf and Junior Golf.

The golf course is open for as long a season as nature will allow, and the Clubhouse is active from spring until late fall, with a variety of social events throughout the season.
